Gee, has it really been a whole month since I posted? Not much happening around here I suppose. My days have consisted of sitting in front of the fireplace in vain (it's warmed up around here and I can't get them to turn it on) and then moving to either the purple couch or the bed, whichever is sunnier, until someone comes home to feed me. I only got into one vase this month, but Erika managed to break 3 crystal glasses in a week, so I think we are even for now.
For those of you who have been asking, here is the outcome of the Iron Chef contest and other Baking News...Erika didn't win. She got a consolation prize (best appetizer, for dates stuffed with Gorgonzola and wrapped in bacon), but the grand prize went to her Boss, which is probably a good thing! He earned it anyway, with some truly professional presentations. In other news, Erika broke down and purchased the Esalen Cookbook on a recent retreat, and baked her first vegan cake. Really, it was delicious! Next recipe to try: kale salad. Don't knock it til you've tried it!
The Big Event of the month was Erika's baby shower, co-hosted by the three lovely Lin ladies...made even BIGGER by the fact that Mom showed up for a surprise visit from France. Tears of joy all around. And speaking of BIGGER, Erika is getting better at frightening strangers with her Amazing Belly, but it still works only about half the time to get a seat on BART. Sheesh! Yes, Maude is up to her old tricks and Erika is temporarily back on BART. After behaving perfectly for a drive down the coast to Big Sur and back, the moment she re-entered San Francisco, her starter quit. Harold is sounding more and more appealing...
